Edwin E. Kerr, 1926-2003, Sedalia
Edwin Ellis "Ed" Kerr, 77, of Sedalia,
died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003,
at Bothwell Regional
Health Center.
He was born May 18, 1926,
in Cole Camp, a son of Ernest and Minnie Kerr. In 1961, he married May L.
Walker, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Kerr was born and raised in Cole Camp, where he attended school before
moving to Sedalia. He worked in a
steel mill, traveled with the race horse circuit, and worked for the Chamberlin
family farms, Homakers Furniture and Sacred
Heart Church
from which he retired. Being a man who couldn't sit still, he went back to work
for Green Thumb and worked at the Sedalia Boys Club and Parkhurst. He enjoyed
fishing, hunting, working around the yard and driving his car.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Kerr and Joyce Small, both of Sedalia,
and Patricia Thompson, of Denver; a
son, Larry Mack, of Boonville; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,
and a special friend, Wanda Byrd. He was also predeceased by his parents, a
sister, Amy Williams, a brother, Alvin Kerr, Sr., and a grandson, Eric
Thompson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Burns Freewill Baptist Chapel, with the Rev. Eugene Poole
officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill
Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church after 12:30
p.m. Tuesday. There will be no family visitation.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes
Association, in care of the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
